Singulair^®Featured In "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" Episode

The Singulair residential wastewater treatment system was featured on an episode of ABC Television’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

It’s a great honor to be selected by this four-time Emmy-Award winning production that’s currently in its fourth season on ABC Television. It makes good sense, too, when you consider the show’s concept. Every week, a deserving family is selected to win a new home or to have their present home rebuilt by a team of designers and contractors; and there is this special twist – the show’s teams have only seven days to build or rebuild that new house. Each episode of the popular TV show is a self-contained race against time and budget on a project that would normally require at least four months to complete. Everything, including the exterior and landscape, must be completed in one week.

Now consider these two facts: the Norweco Singulair system is the state-of-the-art alternative to a troublesome septic tank; and it is designed for fast, easy installation. The show and Singulair make a perfect fit.

The episode featuring the Singulair system brought together designers, contractors and hundreds of volunteers who worked under the direction of Royce Builders, a company with locations in Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, Charlotte and Atlanta. Royce has built more than 15,000 houses in the Houston area alone since 1986. Mark Dunham, of Royce Builders, called our distributor, Hurt’s Wastewater Management, in Ganado, Christopher Concrete Products, to order the Singular system for the project.

John and Monica Kubena and their seven children are owners of the new house. It replaces their small trailer home near East Bernard, Christopher Concrete Products. The trailer’s wastewater was going into a leaking, old, anaerobic septic tank. The Kubena’s identical 7-year-old twin daughters, Sara and Tara, suffer from leukemia. The family desperately needed more space as well as a more sanitary living environment, something Norweco’s Singulair system is now providing, thanks to ABC Television.

The Singulair system was selected by Royce Builders and the show producers because it’s a trouble-free answer to domestic wastewater disposal. It insures a safe, sanitary home environment. A Singulair system is especially ideal wherever space is limited or soil conditions are poor. The system employs the extended aeration process and provides flow equalization, aeration, clarification, tertiary filtration and optional chemical treatment inside a single precast concrete tank. It uses only one mechanical component – a fractional horsepower aerator that runs at 1725 RPM. Singulair is certified with a 30-minute per hour run time. The system’s patented Bio-Kinetic device -- an integral component of the system -- assures that all flow is completely treated. Only safe, clear and sanitary effluent is released into the environment.

The show’s producers, Endemol USA, and their team of volunteer contractors also liked the fact that the Singulair system complies with USEPA wastewater treatment guidelines. The system meets all requirements of NSF/ANSI Standard 40 and has been evaluated, listed and/or licensed by NSF International, the Canadian Standards Association, Underwriters Laboratories and the Federal Communications Commission. Furthermore, it is backed by Norweco’s 50-year warranty and exchange program. Singulair is designed for domestic wastewater flows that range from 500 to 1,500 gallons per day. The system is only available from local, licensed, factory-trained Norweco distributors.
